2 killed, 1 injured in Johnston crash

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after two 22-year-old men were killed in a crash Thursday morning in Johnston.

Police say a car with three occupants was driving east on Hartford Avenue around 4:15 a.m. when it crossed into the opposite lane and struck a garbage truck head-on.

The driver and backseat passenger were both pronounced dead, according to police. The front-seat passenger, also a 22-year-old man, is in critical condition.

Police say the driver of the dump truck was not injured.
