Lindsay Lague, a spokesperson for the Providence Police Department, said the two victims were shot on Julian Street just after 7 p.m.
Officers arrived to find a 14-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot. The woman, who Lague said had been shot twice, was brought to the Providence Fire Department on Washington Street, then transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
Lague said a memorial vigil was taking place at the corner of Julian and Amherst streets when the shooting happened.
It’s unclear whether police have anyone in custody at this time.
