2018 RISCA Fellowship Exhibition
The 2018 RISCA Fellowship Exhibition is now open at the University of Rhode Island’s Main Art Gallery. Featuring work by 18 artists in the gallery, and more during the events, this annual show celebrates and showcases the work of the 2018 RISCA fellows. The gallery is located in the Fine Arts Center at 105 Upper College Road in Kingston, RI, and is open from noon-4pm Monday through Friday. All events are free and open to the public.

Rhode Island Poetry Out Loud State Champion
Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts senior Steven Rosario is this year’s winner of the Poetry Out Loud state championship, held Sunday, March 4 at the RISD Museum. As state winner, Rosario will go on to compete at the national finals in Washington, DC in April.

Work on your RISCA grants at Providence Community Library locations! Mollie will be there to answer questions, read drafts, and give advice. Computers will be available for your use. This is totally unstructured time, focused on supporting you as you write your grant application.

Annual State Employees Art Exhibit in the Atrium Gallery
The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) proudly features the 2018 State Employee Art Exhibit on display at the Atrium Gallery from January 29, 2018 – April 7, 2018. A reception will be held to celebrate the artists on Wednesday, March 14th from 12:00-12:30pm in the gallery. The State-run gallery is located at One Capitol Hill in Providence, RI.
The State Employees Art Show is one of the year’s most popular shows in the state gallery, since it showcases the often-hidden artistic talents of state workers. Each year a different group of talented artists emerge, from agency directors to clerk-typists. This year’s show features paintings, drawings, photographs, and even tapestries by 19 state employee-artists from over 11 different state agencies.
GiveMe5 Teen Film Lab Registration Closes Tomorrow
Registration is still open for the March 2018 GiveMe5 Teen Film Labs! The Labs will be offered at two locations again this year. Beginners, intermediate, and advanced filmmakers welcome. There is no cost for students to participate. Completed applications can be faxed or emailed. The deadline for the Providence lab is Friday, March 9 and the deadline for the South Kingstown lab is Friday, March 16. A reminder that spots will be filled first come-first serve and incomplete applications will not be accepted. This year’s special theme is Point of View. Click here to go to the application.
