Biography | Manny Pérez

Manny Pérez is a Dominican-American actor, screenwriter, and producer born in the Dominican Republic. Throughout his career, he has stood out for his work in fi lm and television, proudly bringing his Dominican roots to the international audiovisual industry.

His career includes work in productions such as Washington Heights, a fi lm he also co-wrote and produced, as well as appearances in well-known series including Third Watch, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Homeland, Luke Cage, and The Blacklist. He is also recognized for his work on La Soga, a project in which he participated as both actor and writer.

With a career marked by discipline, authenticity, and commitment to his community, Manny Pérez has become an important fi gure for Latino and Dominican talent in fi lm and television. His presence in this workshop represents an opportunity for emerging talents to learn from his experience and artistic vision.

Drawing inspiration from the rich traditions of Argentine tango, the expressive soul of flamenco, and the romantic essence of fi lin, she brings together three powerful musical worlds in a performance that feels both timeless and refreshingly new.

The evening also pays heartfelt tribute to one of Spain’s most beloved musical icons, Rocío Dúrcal. Through songs that have touched generations, Ana celebrates the unmistakable warmth, strength, and emotional depth that made Dúrcal’s music so unforgettable.

Biography | Ana Del Rocío

Throughout this year, Ana del Rocío has further established her distinguished artistic career, reaffi rming her commitment to music, research, and the promotion of cultural heritage. For the second consecutive year, she collaborated with the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture on educational and interactive projects such as “Del Son al Flamenco” and “La Historia del Bolero en Puerto Rico,” a production based on extensive research and presented in several municipalities across the island.

In the recording fi eld, she joined renowned pianist and producer José Negroni to record the album “Serrat en Voz de Mujer,” a live piano-and-vocal project released on digital platforms in 2026. This album pays tribute to Joan Manuel Serrat through elegant, contemporary interpretations of some of his most iconic songs. She also released the singles “Evidencias,” “Derroche,” and “Quítame ese Hombre” under the Décimo Records label, showcasing her versatility and connection to Latin American romantic music.

As a singer and producer, she has presented shows in Puerto Rico and Miami, receiving recognition for her contributions to culture and the arts. On August 15, she will present “Serrat en Voz de Mujer” in Miami and return to Providence with her new show, “Feeling Tango y Flamenco.” She has also joined the Caribbean Tenors’ new production, taking part in a heartfelt tribute to Juan Gabriel.

ECAS’s “Te Quiero” Program: Inspiring Creativity Through Film and Theater

Participating in the stop-motion animation workshop at the Providence Children’s Film Festival was an exciting, enjoyable, and educational experience made possible with the support of ECAS through its “Te Quiero” program. Participants discovered how fi lms are created and how objects and images can come to life through photographs and small movements, while developing creativity, patience, planning, and attention to detail. Cristin Searles, Managing Director of the festival, contributed her extensive experience in museums, art, music, dance, and fi lm to create a meaningful environment that encourages young people to become more empathetic, open-minded, and culturally curious. Experiences like this demonstrate the importance of accessible arts education. By supporting Teatro ECAS’s “Te Quiero” program, donors help acting students receive professional training: a $500 contribution supports one student for an entire year, while $1,000 supports two students, helping prepare the next generation of theater and arts professionals.
