Analyzing Barriers to Latino Adult Education in Rhode Island: How Community Voices Can Inform Future Engagement

As featured in The Providence Journal, we are delighted to announce the publication of the Latino Policy Institute at Roger William University’s new report.

In July 2018, the Latino Policy Institute at RWU released “Analyzing Barriers to Latino Adult Education in Rhode Island: How Community Voices Can Inform Future Engagement,” a study that seeks to identify the specific barriers the Latino community faces when trying to access adult education programs in the state.

We would like to thank Brown University for collaborating with the Latino Policy Institute on our report, specifically Brown University Professor Kevin A. Escudero, Ph.D. and Maria Paula Garcia Mosquera, M.A. Candidate in Public Humanities for their contributions to the report.

Research conducted for this report was funded by a grant received from the United Way of Rhode Island.

Members of the research team would also like to thank the community members who generously provided their time and insight to this project, and to the organizations we partnered with to hold focus groups and publicize our study through their networks: Genesis Center, the South Providence Public Library, the Literacy Volunteers of the East Bay, and Progreso Latino.
