Police say Orlando Celado faces a felony charge of malicious injury to animals, along with reckless driving and other driving violations.

Stacie Tenagliasilva told 12 News her 13-year-old son was walking their dogs, named Tucker and Stanley, down Rosedale Street Sunday evening when a white Chevrolet sped past them.

“My son had the dogs on a leash,” Tenagliasilva said. “My son had to jump out of the way. Tucker got crushed, but Stanley survived.”

Celado didn’t stop and drove off, but Tenagliasilva and other witnesses were able to provide officers with a description and plate of the car.

Officers arrested Celado at his North Providence home on Monday.

He was arraigned at the police station and released on $15,000 personal recognizance. He is due in court in November.
