Bidders Flock to Unclaimed Property Auction for Rare Finds
This past week, our division of Unclaimed Property hosted the first Unclaimed Property Auction since 2014. Hundreds of residents bid on valuable items, such as rare coins, gold, and fine jewelry, unclaimed and presumed abandoned for years. Earnings from the sale of these items will remain available in perpetuity to the rightful owners or their heirs to claim at any time. Last fiscal year 2024, the Unclaimed Property team returned over $17 million, and Treasury continues their outreach efforts to make sure every single dollar is returned to its rightful owner.
