Together with the CollegeBound 529 program, Treasury hosted the “What Do I Want to Be When I Grow Up” art contest this summer. We received so many creative submissions from students across Rhode Island!
This week, we welcomed three finalists to the State House, where each received a $1,529 contribution to their CollegeBound Saver account. The grand prize winner, Miles, will also have his artwork featured on a Rhode Island billboard — a tremendous achievement and a celebration of the creativity and ambition of our young artists.
Rhode Islanders Come Together — Powerful Community Support for Colombia
In response to the devastating earthquake in Colombia, our office partnered with Navigant Credit Union and The Colombian American Cultural Society to host a fundraising event, supporting relief efforts in Chocó — one of the regions most severely impacted.
Rhode Island is home to a vibrant Colombian American community with deep ties to Colombia. As a proud Colombian American, I joined community and financial partners to give Rhode Islanders an opportunity to stand in solidarity with those affected and provide meaningful assistance during the recovery.
The Special Olympics of Rhode Island knows how to win a Medal or two (or 25).
I joined state leaders and advocates this week to celebrate the incredible athletes of the Rhode Island Special Olympics Team and their outstanding performance at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. The team brought home an impressive 25 medals — a testament to their dedication, teamwork, and inspiring spirit.
The celebration, hosted by Secretary of State Amore, brought together the Special Olympics of Rhode Island athletes, their families, the community, and many others to honor the incredible achievements and the pride they bring to Rhode Island.
