Central Falls police warn of phone “grandparent scam”

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WJAR) — Central Falls police are warning residents about a “grandparent” scam going around.
They say callers are pretending to be lawyers seeking money for a grandchild who’s been arrested.
The “lawyer” then requests money for fines.
Police say if you recieve this call, hang up and report it to the departement directly.
They say they want to remind residents to never give personal or financial information over the phone.
