City of Providence to Host Distribution of At-Home COVID-19 Tests

Targeted distribution aims to provide free COVID-19 tests for residents in hard hit zip codes

PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Jorge O. Elorza, Representative Scott Slater and volunteers will distribute free COVID-19 rapid antigen tests to Providence residents at the West End Recreation Center today at 4:00PM. While all Providence residents are eligible to receive a free COVID-19 test kit, residents in hard hit zip codes, such as 02907 and 02909, are highly encouraged to attend.

Supplies are limited and each individual will receive one test kit after confirming proof of Providence residency. Test kits include two at-home rapid antigen tests. Acceptable forms of residency examples include a driver’s license, Providence municipal ID or current utility bill.

“As we continue to see the spread of COVID-19 throughout our state, it is critical that everyone have access to the COVID-19 tests they need,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. “Our team is working hard to get test kits directly into the hands of our neighbors who need them most. If you are a Providence resident in a hard hit zip code, or know of someone who is, please encourage them to stop by and grab a free test kit.”
