SOMERSET, Mass. (WJAR) — Somerset police said a man on an electric bike was struck and killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon.
The crash shut down the intersection of Read Street and Brayton Avenue while police investigated.
A witness, who didn’t want to share her name, told NBC 10 she was at the red light when she saw the crash unfold.
“I said ‘Oh my God, I said I can’t believe I’m seeing this, I can’t believe I’m actually going to see this,” the witness said, describing what was going through her mind.
Police said the man was taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital, where was pronounced dead. His name was not released.
They said the driver of the other vehicle involved stayed at the scene.
The witness described the truck driver as shaken up.
“You could see his heart beating out of his chest, he was so distraught over it,” she explained.
Somerset police and state police were involved in the investigation. The road has since reopened.
