Crews respond to large fire in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — First responders are at the scene of a large fire in an industrial area off Allens Avenue in Providence.
A plume of thick smoke could be seen for miles as firefighters worked to knock down the flames at Rhode Island Recycled Metals. A hazmat team also responded.
The roadway is currently down to one lane in each direction, which may cause traffic in the area.
No injuries have been reported, but firefighters are being rotated out since the heat is a concern.
Crews are expected to be on scene for several hours.
We have a crew at the scene gathering information. Check back for updates.
This is the second fire this year at the scrap metal yard. A spokesperson for Rhode Island Recycled Metals told 12 News back in April that they believed the previous fire was a case of arson.
