ASPR’s Critical Role in U.S. Donations of COVID-19 Vaccines: A Look Behind the Scenes

More than 70% of adults in the United States have received at least one shot of COVID-19 vaccine, and BARDA has purchased enough doses of COVID-19 vaccines to cover everyone in the United States. At the same time, federal health officials recognize that the pandemic is a global struggle and the SARS-CoV-2 virus doesn’t stop at any of our national borders. To stop the spread of COVID-19 in the U.S. and decrease the chances of new, even more dangerous, variants emerging, we must help prevent the spread of the pandemic worldwide. That is why, with ASPR’s coordination, the U.S. is taking the global lead in supporting countries in need of the pandemic vaccine.
