According to police, the driver pulled into the Shell station on Mineral Spring Avenue to refuel. While filling up, the fire reportedly started due to mechanical issues the truck had been experiencing prior to the stop.

Police said the fire triggered the station’s fire suppression system when the truck’s temperature rose.

The Shell station will likely remain closed for several days as crews work to clean up residual chemicals and ensure all safety systems are operational.

Police also noted that the driver was “lucky enough to get away unharmed.”

Mineral Spring Avenue were closed from Route 146 to Woodward Road in both directions.

A 12 News crew is at the scene gathering more information.

This is a developing story and will be updated as further details become available.
