Girl, 7, critically wounded in Providence shooting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after a 7-year-old girl was shot in Providence Thursday evening.
Commander Timothy O’Hara told 12 News the girl was in the car with two family members on Florence Street when she was struck by gunfire.
O’Hara said she was rushed to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
“This is an unfathomable tragedy caused by senseless gun violence,” O’Hara said. “We have a clearly innocent victim here today.”
No arrests have been made at this time.
“We’re working on every possible lead right now,” O’Hara said.
