Here’s how RI’s Attorney General is protecting consumers
That’s a wrap on National Consumer Protection Week! Below is a compilation of ways our Office is on offense to protect Rhode Islanders — this week and every week of the year.
AG Neronha announced that his Office filed lawsuits against Grieco Honda and Grieco Toyota for allegedly engaging in unfair consumer pricing practices, in violation of Rhode Island’s consumer protection law.
The AG is seeking a court order to halt further conduct, obtain restitution for consumers where applicable, and impose monetary penalties. Read more here.
“Prioritizing profits over the health of children requires a strong response, and that is why we continue to take action against any and all landlords who endanger children in this way,” said Attorney General Neronha. Read more here.
Additional Recent Lead Enforcement Action By AG Neronha:
October 2021, filed two lawsuits against two separate landlords following multiple cases of child lead poisoning at several properties.
February 3, 2022, filed a lawsuit against two Providence landlords following the lead poisoning of three children at their property. That case is currently pending in Providence County Superior Court.
Attorney General Peter F. Neronha issued a warning to Rhode Islanders to remain vigilant against Internal Revenue Service (IRS) imposter scams during the current tax season as state and federal tax deadlines approach during the month of April.
The Office of the Attorney General has received multiple reports of phone and email IRS imposter scams that attempt to solicit personal and payment information from individuals.
