I-495 crash sends 3 drivers to hospital

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after three vehicles were involved in a crash Thursday morning on I-495 South in Mansfield.

Massachusetts State Police said two of the cars hit each other head-on after one crossed over from the northbound side of the highway. The two drivers were unable to get out of their vehicles.

Those two people and a third driver were taken to the hospital, according to state police, but the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

Multiple lanes on both sides of the highway were shut down as crews worked to clear the scene.

It’s unclear if the snow was a factor in the crash.
