PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — R.I. House Speaker Chris Blazejewski announced Thursday he will introduce a bill to establish an independent inspector general in Rhode Island, throwing the weight of his office behind a long-held goal of reformers.
“I think it’s incumbent on all of us to do our very best to restore the confidence in government,” Blazejewski told 12 News on Thursday morning, in his first sit-down interview since succeeding Joe Shekarchi as speaker. “And I think this is a way to do it.”
