The LGBTQ+ community can face additional barriers to accessing healthcare because of their sexual orientation. The fear of stigma can prevent LGBTQ+ identifying people from scheduling regular health examinations and screenings. This puts them at a higher risk of not being diagnosed with or treated for serious health conditions including cancer, mental health problems, HIV/AIDS, and other diseases. Find resources on specific health issues that impact the LGBTQ+ community and health services including hotlines, referral services, and local health centers.
Urinary tract infections, or UTIs, are the second most common type of infection in the body. UTIs can happen anywhere in the urinary system (which includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra). The symptoms of a UTI include:
Pain or burning when you urinate
Fever, tiredness, or shakiness
An urge to urinate often
Pressure in your lower belly
Urine that smells bad or looks cloudy or reddish
Pain in your back or side below the ribs
UTIs can be treated with antibiotics so it’s important to see your doctor if you think you have a UTI. Learn more.
His Bundle Electrography
His bundle electrography is a test that measures electrical activity in a part of the heart that carries the signals that control the time between heartbeats (contractions). The bundle of His is a group of fibers that carry electrical impulses through the center of the heart. If these signals are blocked, you will have problems with your heartbeat. This test may be done to:
Determine if you need a pacemaker or other treatment
Diagnose arrhythmias
Find the specific location where electrical signals through the heart are blocked
Learn more about how the His bundle electrography test is performed and watch a video about the cardiac conduction system.
