NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) — The Bellevue Gardens Shopping Center could eventually become home to a brand new luxury hotel, 12 News has learned.
The shopping plaza, which first opened back in 1956, was sold for $40 million to Procaccianti Companies last year.
Procaccianti Companies told 12 News the proposed 91-room hotel would have “a full complement of upscale amenities.”
“The footprint of the hotel and additional below-grade parking fits within the existing site without any changes to the retail plaza or its tenants,” the real estate firm noted.
Centerbrook Architects and Planners of Connecticut has been tasked with designing the luxury hotel.
Procaccianti Companies it slated to present its proposal to Newport’s Technical Review Committee next month.
