Man shot in both legs in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Providence police are investigating after a shooting victim was found early Monday morning.

City spokesperson Josh Estrella told 12 News that first responders were called around 6:30 a.m. to the 7-Eleven on Cranston Street at Huntington Avenue. There they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds to both of his kneecaps.

The victim said the shooting happened about an hour earlier, according to Estrella. The man was alert and conscious as he was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Police later said the 51-year-old’s injuries are not life-threatening.

No word at this time on any suspects or what led up to the shooting.
