Mayor Elorza Extends #ReThinkPVD Free Two-Hour Parking in PVD Business Corridors
Free Two-Hour Parking Extended through September 12th

Providence, RI- Mayor Jorge O. Elorza announced today that the local ReThinkPVD<http://www.rethinkpvd.com/> free two-hour parking in designated commercial districts will be extended through September 12th. Businesses wishing to apply<https://providenceri.viewpointcloud.com/categories/1076> to repurpose parking spaces adjacent to their business as take-out spaces for streamlined pick-up, take-out and delivery services or to increase outdoor dining space still have the opportunity to do so.
“The health and safety of our community members remains a top priority as we work to welcome our neighbors back to enjoy our unique cuisine and visit our small businesses,” said Mayor Jorge Elorza. “I hope that residents and visitors alike can find safe ways to enjoy their favorite locations and experience all that we, as a community, have to offer them.”
During the extended campaign, Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau (PWCVB) will be hosting a unique Providence Restaurant Weeks: Stay Local, Eat Well<https://www.goprovidence.com/rw/>. Restaurant Weeks will be Sunday, August 16 through Saturday, September 12. This season, restaurants will offer specials for breakfast, lunch or dinner and may also include a Chef’s Choice selection — a sort of “wild card” item that could a variety of special offers. “The hospitality industry has suffered tremendous economic hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  As we begin to safely open back up, it is important to be innovative and collaborative,” said Kristen Adamo, PWCVB President and CEO. “We are working hand in hand with the Mayor’s team to provide local businesses with as much support as we can.”
As part of ReThinkPVD, a campaign to redefine how people experience Providence’s world class cuisine and local economy, establishments can apply at www.ReThinkPVD.com<https://e.providenceri.gov/rethinkpvd-outdoor-dining/>, to use up to two legal parking spaces directly outside of their establishment as designated take-out spaces for up to 15 minutes by patrons. This application is free of charge, and upon approval, establishments will be provided with signage for their designated spaces.
The City will continue to offer up to two hours of free parking in designated commercial districts throughout Providence. While parking meter violations will not be issued during free two-hour parking in the specified districts, parking time limits will be enforced.
Two hours of free parking will be offered every day from 10:00AM until 9:00PM through September 12th in the following commercial districts:

•      Atwells Avenue – Bradford Street to Knight Street

•      Spruce Street – Dean Street to Acorn Street

•      Dean Street – Atwells Avenue to West Exchange Street

•      Acorn Street – Spruce Street to Atwells Avenue

•      Bradford Street – Atwells Avenue to Jones Street

•      Bond Street – Atwells Avenue to Spruce Street

•      Broad Street – Public Street to Montgomery Street

•      Downtown Providence – bounded by Fountain Street, Memorial Boulevard, Weybosset Street, Empire Street and Friendship Street (from Dyer Street to Dorrance Street)

•      Hope Street – Rochambeau Avenue to Blackstone Boulevard

•      North Main Street – Thomas Street to Park Row

•      Olneyville Square – Route 10 to Sydney Street and Delaine Street to Atwood Street to Magnolia Street

•      South Main Street – James Street to Packet Street

•      Point Street – From Eddy to East Franklin Street

•      Thayer Street – Bowen Street to Waterman Street

•      Wayland Square – East Angell Street/Angell Street to Gano Street and Wayland Avenue from Angell Street to Pitman Street

•      Wickenden/Ives – Wickenden Street at Benefit Street to Ives Street at Preston Street
