“The initial investigation shows that the pick-up truck was travelling east bound on Main Ave approaching Sharon St when the scooter, which was traveling west bound on Main Ave, attempted to make a left turn onto Sharon St from the Main Ave westbound left turn lane,” police said in a release.

Police said the 36-year-old man driving the scooter had serious injuries. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

The man’s name and condition were not immediately available. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.
