The Providence City Council unveiled that Hawkins Street, where the iconic lemonade shop has sat ever since it first opened 50 years ago, will now be named “Mr. Lemon Place.”

The street dedication honors the former owners of Mr. Lemon — the late Joseph and Eileen Rao. The lemonade shop is now owned by their three children: Joseph, Janice and Colleen.

Mr. Lemon sells frozen lemonade in a variety of rotating flavors, though lemon, watermelon and vanilla are available weekly throughout the season.
