Near record high temperatures expected on Halloween in Southern New England

A cool start to the work week will give way to near-record warmth to close out October and begin November.

Highs on Monday and Tuesday will only make it into the mid-50s with a cool area of high pressure overhead. It will be sunny.

A warm frontal passage is expected Tuesday night, and there will be a chance for light rain showers associated with that warm front. The best chance for rain will occur late at night while most people are sleeping from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Beautiful weather arrives on Wednesday and Thursday with a much warmer airmass boosting high temperatures into the low 70s on Wednesday.

It will likely be the second warmest Halloween in recorded history in Providence as high temperatures soar into the mid to upper 70s, close to 80 degrees.

The record high on Halloween in Rhode Island is 83 degrees in 1946. The second warmest on record is 73 degrees in 2004. Our forecast high on Halloween in 2024 is 77 degrees.

No jacket is needed for the kids in their costumes for trick-or-treating this year! As kids head out to trick-or-treat, temperatures will likely start in the 70s, falling into the 60s after sunset on Halloween.
