New FREE Continuing Education from MMWR and Medscape

Vital Signs: Prevalence of Key Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factors
for Million Hearts 2022 — United States, 2011–2016

CDC’s MMWR and Medscape are proud to introduce a new FREE continuing education (CE) activity. The goal of this activity is to inform clinicians of the current status and recent changes over time of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors targeted for reduction by the Million Hearts 2022 initiative, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report.

CVD mortality rates have steadily declined over approximately the last 40 years, but heart disease and stroke remain the 1st and 5th leading causes of death in the U.S. Learn more about the Million Hearts 2022 initiative put in place to address this issue and earn FREE CE.This activity is intended for internists, cardiologists, family medicine practitioners, pediatricians, public health officials, nurses, pharmacists, and other physicians caring for patients with risk factors for CVD.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to

  1. Describe current status of CVD risk factors targeted for reduction by the Million Hearts 2022 initiative, according to a CDC report
  2. Explain recent changes over time of CVD risk factors targeted for reduction by the Million Hearts 2022 initiative, according to a CDC report
  3. Determine clinical and public health implications of current status and recent changes over time of CVD risk factors targeted for reduction by the Million Hearts 2022 initiative, according to a CDC report
