Massachusetts General Hospital Hosts RDHRS Kick-off Meeting; Tours of Regional Ebola and Special Pathogens Treatment Center

On November 13, Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response Dr. Robert Kadlec and other ASPR staff met with senior leaders from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), which recently received a grant from ASPR’s Hospital Preparedness Program to pilot a project that shows the potential effectiveness and viability of a Regional Disaster Health Response System (RDHRS). During the kick-off meeting, ASPR and hospital leaders discussed the vision for a RDHRS, the hospital’s progress on emergency preparedness activities, and its role as a Regional Ebola and Special Pathogens Treatment Center. MGH’s Biothreat Team and Hazmat Team also demonstrated their operational and decontamination capabilities.
