PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WJAR) — A Pawtucket family sustained serious injuries, and lost their beloved dog after a violent home invasion Monday afternoon.
Surveillance video shows the last moments their 15-year-old dog Tootsie was last seen alive, after police said three women snatched him.
Ring video obtained exclusively by NBC 10 shows three women running out of KellieJolivet’s Pawtucket home.
“It was like the devil was dancing around my house,” saidJolivet.
Her 15-year-old dog, Tootsie, scooped up in their arms.
“I felt powerless because you couldn’t really do anything because they were just being dirty the way they were fighting,” she said.
Jolivet said she was eating at 4:30 p.m. Monday afternoon when the three women barged in, heading straight to her daughter’s room.
She said her 24-year-old daughter, along with her boyfriend, were immediately attacked.
“That’s when I noticed that her screaming wasn’t screaming for laughter, it was for help,” said Jolivet.
She tried to pull the attackers off her daughter.
The women then stole Tootsie, before leaving.
“Basically we got word that they threw her out of the window and ran her over, and therefore shattered her pelvis…we had to put her down today,” saidJolivet.
She said her daughter used to be friends with one of the attackers.
That friendship ended, according to Jolivet, which led to the alleged assault.
“I have to sit there and lock the bottom lock, middle lock and there’s a chain on the door now,” saidJolivet. “That innocent dog was taken for no reason, all because of some stupidity”
She said police have identified the women involved, and hopes charges come soon.
Police said the incident remains under investigation.
