PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Providence police confirm they have a suspect in custody in connection with a shooting last summer that killed one man and wounded two others.
Detectives arrested 22-year-old Nathan Rodrigues on several charges, including the murder of 33-year-old Jhensen Baldayac, according to police.
Baldayac and two other men were shot the night of Aug. 3 on June Street. All three were taken to the hospital with severe injuries, and Baldayac died about two days later.
Police said they found more than 20 shell casings on the ground after the shooting. The following day, they located a vehicle on Goddard Street with more shell casings inside and bullet holes in the passenger door.
In addition to murder, police said Rodrigues is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and single counts of conspiracy and other firearm-related violations.
He’s expected to appear in court Thursday afternoon.
