PDCC Blasts Witman for Ties to Fung, Trump
Providence, Rhode Island- The Providence Democratic City Committee, who last June endorsed Mayor Jorge Elorza, announced today that they will be committing all of their energy to ensuring his re- election. The Mayor’s opponent, Dee Dee Witman, who is running as an Independent, has very clear ties to Allan Fung and Donald Trump.
“Mayor Elorza has been a great partner in Democratic politics and I look forward to continuing to help his campaign,” said Chairwoman Maryellen Goodwin. “His opponent, Dee Dee Witman, helped raise money for Allan Fung, an avid Trump supporter. It is clear that a candidate like Witman, who supports the Fung and Trump agenda, is dangerous for Providence. We must re- elect our Democratic Mayor.”
“Providence has made great strides forward under Mayor Elorza’s leadership,” said U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse. “With President Trump in the White House, it’s so important that we elect officials who will champion Democratic values at every level of government.”
Governor Gina Raimondo adds “With the support of the Elorza Admnistration, there are cranes on the skyline and a building boom in Providence. The Mayor has been a steadfast partner in our successful efforts to create jobs in our capital city, provide education and job training to Providence residents, and rebuild Providence’s public schools. I enthusiastically support Mayor Elorza.”
