John Dorsey, one of the mall’s two court-appointed receivers, announced Wednesday that Providence Place will be changing its parking rates “for the first time in over a decade.”
“This adjustment reflects our commitment to responsibly managing the mall through the receivership process, ensuring its long-term vitality as a core part of downtown Providence,” Dorsey wrote.
Dorsey said the monthly parking rates of $65 for employees will remain unchanged.
The visitor rates for the Providence Place parking garage are now as follows:
- 0-30 minutes: Free
- 30-60 minutes: $1
- 1-2 hours: $2
- 2-5 hours: $10
- 8-20 hours: $20
- 20-24 hours: $25
Prior to this change, parking rates for 0-2 hours was free, 2-5 hours was $2 and 5-8 hours was $15.
“This update ensures we remain competitive in the marketplace while reinvesting in the property to keep Providence Place a vibrant economic and community anchor,” Dorsey concluded.
Dorsey said improvements have been made to the parking garage since the mall was ordered into receivership last year, including the installation of new gates and kiosks, increased staffing and upgrades to security and janitorial services.
