Public Health Press Release: RIDOH Recommends Re-opening Four Beaches
RIDOH Recommends Re-opening Four Beaches
The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) recommends re-opening Dunes Park Beach in Westerly, Sandy Point Beach in Portsmouth, and Third Beach and Peabody’s Beach in Middletown for swimming because bacteria levels have returned to acceptable measures. Camp Grosvenor in Saunderstown and Kent County YMCA Lower Pond in Warwick remain closed for swimming.
RIDOH will continue to monitor and review beach water quality regularly to ensure safe bathing throughout the summer season. The status of a beach may change as new data become available. The most up-to-date beach information is available through a recorded message on RIDOH’s beaches telephone line (401-222-2751), or at www.health.ri.gov/data/beaches
