Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra to Perform “A Night at the Oscars” at Roger Williams Park

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra returns for its Summer Pops in the Park Concert, “A Night at the Oscars,” at the Temple to Music located inside Roger Williams Park on Wednesday, August 3rd at 7pm, with a rain date of August 4 at the same time. The concert is free and open to the public.

This year’s Pops in the Park will treat attendees to a night of timeless movie-themed music from Star Wars to Titanic, bringing audience members into a “whole new world” of enjoyment, conducted by audience favorite Troy Quinn. The annual concert began in 2016 and has since become an annual signature Providence event, evolving and expanding its reach with each passing year.

“Once again, the City of Providence is delighted to welcome this no-cost world-class concert to Roger Williams Park, ensuring our community members have equitable access to the arts in one of Providence’s most beloved parks,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. “Please join us for an unforgettable night of family fun and orchestral music.”

The Rhode Island Foundation and City of Providence are joined by several sponsors in supporting Pops in the Park, including the Papitto Opportunity Connection, TACO/The White Family Foundation, Roger Williams Park Conservancy, PEMA and PVDFest.

“In celebration of our centennial in 2016, we brought the Philharmonic back to the park for the first time in over a decade. We join with our partners in inviting the public to what is becoming an annual tradition for thousands of Rhode Islanders,” said Neil D. Steinberg, President and CEO of the Rhode Island Foundation. “Community is the core of our work. Community starts where people join together to share experiences. There is no better place to celebrate the spirit of community than in one of the state’s best-loved spots.”

And finally, a few tips for attendees:
