Inaugural Financial Literacy Educators Forum Empowers Teachers
Last week, Rhode Island Treasury, in partnership with RIDE, hosted the state’s first-ever Financial Literacy Educators Forum at Bryant University. Close to 40 middle and high school educators and 15 supporting organizations gathered for the event, which provided hands-on professional development from national and local leaders on topics like real-world money skills and classroom strategies. This collaboration marks a significant step toward fulfilling a key recommendation of the Financial Literacy Consortium to strengthen support for educators, ensuring all Rhode Island students have the tools to make informed financial decisions.
Municipal Leaders Attend Treasury Conference on AI and Fiscal Stability
I was proud to host a successful Municipal Training and Education Conference, drawing over 70 municipal finance officials, agency heads, and related professionals from across Rhode Island. Attendees participated in vital discussions covering emerging issues in public finance, including the integration of AI technology, data transparency, and cybersecurity. Speakers emphasized the importance of ensuring cities and towns have the tools and information necessary for fiscal stability, reaffirming the Treasury’s role as a key resource for local government officials. The event was coordinated by the Office of Debt Management to help strengthen local financial health throughout the state.
