September 5, 2025 Newsletter – September is College Savings Month
September is College Savings Month
September is recognized nationwide as College Savings Month, a reminder of the importance of planning for education. Across the country, families have opened more than 16.9 million 529 college savings accounts, saving over $525 billion for future educational expenses. Here in Rhode Island, families continue to show their commitment to higher education through the CollegeBound Saver program, which helps make college and career training more affordable.
This month, I encourage families who haven’t yet started to explore the benefits of a 529 plan. With tax-free growth and tax-free withdrawals for qualified education expenses, even small contributions can make a big difference over time! Learn more at https://www.collegeboundsaver.com/
Honoring Labor Day and Rhode Island’s Workers
Labor Day is a time to honor the contributions and sacrifices of American workers who have fought to secure fair wages, safe working conditions, and dignity on the job. Here in Rhode Island, we also paused to remember the 1934 Saylesville Massacre, a pivotal moment in our state’s labor history. The courage of those textile workers continues to inspire us today. I am grateful to all union members and working families whose strength and dedication help build stronger communities across our state.
