We’re getting closer and closer to the 2023 Go Global Awards, an annual conference that brings hundreds of business and economic development leaders together to network, share best practices and recognize great work happening around the world. Rhode Island Commerce is proud to co-host this year’s event with the International Trade Commission.
More than 35 economic development agencies operating across the globe are planning to attend and participate in this year’s event, as we showcase and celebrate businesses that are driving the global economy forward through innovations, technologies and strategies.
Continuing our local Blue Economy success story, Rhode Island shipbuilder Senesco Marine launched their second CTV to date last month. The Windserve GENESIS was constructed at Senesco Marine by a team of over 100 expert shipbuilders.
The Windserve GENESIS will be working for Orsted in their Northeast offshore wind farm builds. Able to carry 24 passengers and additional cargo at speeds as high as 27 knots, The Windserve GENESIS will be a great asset to the offshore wind industry. Senesco Marine continues to build four more offshore wind vessels at this time as well a the first ever hybrid ferries being built on the east coast.
Rhode Island is continuing to grow into its role as a leader in the burgeoning biotechnology and life sciences space – and the last month included plenty of examples that showcase this momentum!
Several partner companies within the New England Medical Innovation Center were well-deserving recipients of the latest round of Rhode Island Commerce’s Innovation Vouchers program, including Kardio Status, Inc.; SMoTAP, Inc.; Modesys Technologies, LLC; and Iantrek, Inc. Plus, in academic news, the University of Rhode Island Pharmaceutical Development Institute received $1.2 million in federal funds to support its efforts to strengthen the Ocean State’s biotech workforce.
This is a critical industry for our statewide economy, and we look forward to continuing to build this success story in the months and years to come.
