The site of our new building was once owned by the company that built the RI State House. In the 1890s they erected a stone-cutting facility on our site solely for cutting State House marble. When our construction got underway in fall of 2019 we unearthed a great deal of marble and rescued many pieces that are now landscape features around our outdoor farmers market patio.
We set aside one very large piece for a special installation — atop a frame created by our friends at The Steel Yard — that is now being carved by Nick Benson! We hope to see you at Farm Fresh to experience this unique and historic event. Read more about it.
Sims Market is an open-air farmers market every Saturday 9am to 1pm, year-round. This season we have indoor and outdoor vendors, food trucks, and spaced outdoor seating beside the Woonasquatucket River and Greenway. Sorry, dogs are not allowed inside.
In addition to spring produce, pick up DELIcious! prepared foods!
And of course no Saturday is complete without a treat (or 3) from Buns Bakery!
We kindly remind you that masks/face coverings are required at all times — inside and outside the market. The only exception is stationary eating or drinking outside, where we offer food trucks and distanced seating. Please do not walk around the market without a mask on.
This season, Sims Market is considered an “open air market” — with open garage-style doors lining the market halls and vendors both inside and out. Starting
May 1, we will not be counting as you enter and exit the market, but will continue enforcing masks and safe distancing.
Folks with great taste find the good stuff at the @ProvidenceFlea. One last indoor market on Sunday at Farm Fresh, and it’s full to the brim with 56 local vendors — artisans, makers, and tons of vintage!
Find the Flea in the Farm Fresh Market Halls this Sunday 11am-3pm — Then onJune 6, the Flea moves. back to South Water Street in Providence, 10am-3pm, for their summer outdoor season. We’ll see you there!
Staff Spotlight
Meet Maria Ritchey, Harvest Kitchen Food Service Manager
What made you want to work at Farm Fresh? I wanted to find a way to support my community through fresh food. I am so passionate about cooking and teaching people about food, so to be able to add the layer of supporting the local food system to that is amazing.
What television series are you into right now?Top Chef
What is your favorite RI tradition? Going to Block Island — it is paradise!
What are you most looking forward to post-pandemic? I’m so excited to be able to travel.
What is your favorite thing to order on Market Mobile or buy at the farmers market right now?Uproot plant-based milk on Market Mobile is a game-changer, and I love buying fun veggie plants for my garden from all of the plant vendors at the markets… and of course I cannot pass up a jar of our HK spicy pickled carrots!
Do you have any pets, and if so what’s their name? Any special skills or tricks we should know about? I have an all black Holland Lop bunny named Basil. He loves head scratches and when he gets super happy he flings himself in the air, which is called a Binky.
What’s your favorite season here in RI, and why? Summer! Fresh seafood, the ocean, cookouts, and time on the beach is really all I need in life.
We have embraced the value of time and revived a production method from the early 1800s to create vinegars that are naturally fermented and deliver complex flavors. All of our vinegars are produced, aged and bottled by us in our vinegar works here in the Bay State. No outsourcing, no co-packing, no short cuts. It takes more effort, it takes more time… but the results are brilliant.”

Farm to School
Four Town Farm Asparagus at Chartwells
Our Farm to School team loves connecting farms like Four Town Farm with local schools through Market Mobile. We are grateful to have Chartwells K12 as such a great partner, doing a lot of work to increase local food in school meals!
Through our Market Mobile service, Chartwells bought 760 lb. of Four Town Farm asparagus, which was then distributed to many of the 75 Chartwells K-12 schools throughout RI!
Hear it from the farmer and the chef!Watch this Chartwells video about the whole process with Chef Steve — plus Four Town Farm’s Chris Clegg, who talks about growing asparagus.
