Swarms of dragonflies invade local beaches

WESTERLY, R.I. (WPRI) — A swarm of dragonflies invaded some local beaches on Saturday.
A 12 News viewer sent in a video of what appeared to be hundreds, if not thousands, of the insects flying around the beach and carousel in Watch Hill.
12 News has reached out to the Rhode Island Department of Environment Management to see why this may have occurred, but have not heard back from them yet.
