TOOLKIT: National HIV Testing Day

We’re pleased to announce that Dr. Claudia H. Kawas will be the keynote speaker for the second day of this year’s Healthy Aging Summit. Dr. Kawas, a geriatric neurologist and researcher, is the Al and Trish Nichols Chair in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of California, Irvine — and a professor of Neurobiology & Behavior and Neurology. Some of her major research interests include the epidemiology of aging and Alzheimer’s disease, the determinants of successful aging, and the cognitive and functional abilities of people age 90 years and older.

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is the virus that causes AIDS. In 2017, more than 1.1 million people in the United States were living with HIV.

Since many people with HIV don’t have symptoms, 1 in 7 don’t know they have it. The only way to know if you have HIV is to get tested — spread the word about National HIV Testing Day on June 27!…

Everybody needs physical activity for good health and inclusive after-school programs can help increase physical activity among children of all abilities. Girls on the Run, in collaboration with the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (NCHPAD), recently completed a pilot inclusion program aimed at involving girls with disabilities across the country in this physical activity-based positive youth development program.
