Two people are dead after a residential shooting that ended on Interstate I-190 in Worcester Wednesday.
Police responded to a call for a possible gunshot victim at 2:20 p.m. on Heroult Road.
Officers on scene said they located a man who was suffering from serious gunshot wounds.
He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Almost an hour later, Massachusetts State police said they approached a man acting suspiciously.
Police said the man brandished a firearm, and fired a round.
The trooper ordered the man to drop the weapon, but he fled.
Worcester police were then dispatched to I-190 northbound, for a report of an armed man stopping traffic and pointing a firearm at drivers.
Police said they arrived on the highway and pursued the man on foot.
Officials said the man attempted to carjack motorists on the highway.
Two police officers discharged their firearms during the incident, according to officials.
Police said the man then turned the firearm and shot himself.
He was transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead.
Officials said they believe the man involved in the highway incident is the same man who fatally shot someone on Heroult Road.
Police said there is no danger to the public.
Both shootings are under investigation.
