Dawn O’Connell Testifies at Senate HELP Hearing on the Covid-19 Pandemic; Provides Update on Work Accomplished, Outlines Key Priorities Moving Forward
On, July 20, 2021, Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) Dawn O’Connell testified before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) on efforts within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support the ongoing response to COVID-19. During her testimony, the ASPR pledged to lead the office with vision, precision, and transparency. She discussed efforts of the Strategic National Stockpile to backstop state’s medical supply needs, the National Disaster Medical System to provide health care surge support, the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority to support the research and development of more than 65 COVID medical countermeasures, and ASPR’s newest mission to secure the medical supply chain.
