Xavier Vidot Found Guilty of 2nd Degree Murder in the Shooting Death of 24-year-old Valdez Loiseau

Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced that today a Providence County Superior Court jury found Xavier Vidot (age 18), of Cranston, guilty of one count of second degree murder and one count of discharge of a firearm resulting in death for the July 7, 2017 shooting death of 24-year-old Valdez Loiseau. The jury returned the verdict after five hours of deliberation following a nearly two -week long trial presided over by Superior Court Justice Robert D. Krause.

During the trial, the State proved that on July 7, 2017, Xavier Vidot did shoot Valdez Loiseau in the chest and head with two different firearms, causing his death.  By finding Vidot guilty of second degree murder, the jury rejected the defendant’s claim of self-defense.

Vidot was immediately remanded into custody pending post-trial motions and sentencing.

Cranston Police Detective Anthony Massimino led the investigation and Special Assistant Attorneys General Kimberly Ahern and Robert Johnson prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of the Attorney General.
