The farmers market at our headquarters on Sims Ave in Providence — Sims Market— is open every Saturday 9am–1pm, year-round. Sorry, dogs are not allowed inside.
We kindly remind you that masks/face coverings are required at all times — inside and outside the market. The only exception is stationary eating or drinking outside, where we offer food trucks and distanced seating. Please do not walk around the market without a mask on.
This season, Sims Market is considered an “open air market” — with open garage-style doors lining the market halls and vendors both inside and out. Starting
May 1, we will not be counting as you enter and exit the market, but will continue enforcing masks and safe distancing.
Outdoor farmers market season is starting! Check out this collection of farmers markets open this summer throughout Rhode Island, and where you can use SNAP/EBT, WIC, and Bonus Bucks. We will continue to update this page as information evolves from the many farmers market managers statewide.
Staff Spotlight
Meet Shonan, Market Mobile Associate
We asked Shonan some hard-hitting questions, and this is what we learned.
What made you want to work at Farm Fresh RI? I had only worked closely with non-profits before, such as Year Up Rhode Island. Year Up actually was the one who saw the Farm Fresh job listing and ended up forwarding it to me immediately, thinking I was a perfect match. All I needed to see was non-profit, working close with the community, and a wide variety of fresh produce to be like “omg hey!!” Turns out the match was indeed perfect!
What television or book series are you into right now? I’m rewatching Euphoria on HBO for like the millionth time 😀
What is your favorite Farm Fresh tradition? Currently reinvigorating our tradition of gathering food and coffee donations for our early-bird Market Mobile volunteers!
What’s your favorite season in Rhode Island, and why? Autumn! I don’t really enjoy being too cold or too hot, so the Autumn weather is perfect. I love stepping on the crunchy leaves and going outside in the nice Sweater Weather!!
What do you look forward to most post-pandemic? Not having to tell people to put on a mask :/
What is your favorite thing to order on Market Mobile or purchase at the farmers market right now? I’ve been vegan for almost three years. Barrett’s Garden JUST released a vegan cream cheese — and it’s the best and only vegan cream cheese I will buy for the rest of my life!! It’s only like five ingredients, which is amazingggg so please get some and try it! 😀
Start your garden off right — farmers have started listing a wide variety of plant starts for sale on Market Mobile, including flowering, herb, and vegetable plants!

April is Feeding Families Fresh and Local month, when we ask you to chip in to help more Rhode Islanders afford nutritious fresh food and local farmers reach more customers.
“I’ve been shopping at farmers markets in Rhode Island for over 20 years. The ‘Double Your SNAP’ bonus Farm Fresh provides via Bonus Bucks makes it so I can afford to shop at the farmers market. It totally helps me stretch my budget so I can purchase all the delectable fruits and veggies I get at the farmers market.”
— Jeff, Farmers Market Shopper
“Bonus Bucks bring us customers we might not have otherwise made any sales to, and expand our sales to some existing customers. Participation is simple and rewarding.”
— Adam and Than, Foggy Notion Farm
Foggy Notion Farm as been growing soil and food on historic farmland surrounded by the beautiful forests of Snake Den State Park without chemical inputs since 2016.
