Breast Cancer Screening

Breast cancer affects one in eight women during their lives. Breast cancer screenings can help find breast cancer early, before you notice symptoms. In many cases, finding breast cancer early makes it easier to treat or cure. A mammogram is the most common type of screening and is generally recommended for:

  • Women starting at age 40, repeated every 1 to 2 years.
  • All women starting at age 50, repeated every 1 to 2 years.
  • Women with a mother or sister who had breast cancer at a younger age should consider yearly mammograms. They should begin earlier than the age at which their youngest family member was diagnosed.

Talk to your health care provider about your risk for breast cancer and when you should start getting screened.

Flat Feet

Flat feet are a common condition and happen because the tissues that hold the joints in the foot together (tendons) are loose. The tissues tighten and form an arch by the time a child is 2 or 3 years old. Most people have normal arches by the time they are adults. However, the arch may never form in some people. Learn more about what can cause flat feet and the available treatments.

Identifying COVID-19 Close Contact Exposure

As K-12 schools resume in-person learning, school administrators must be prepared to respond quickly when someone with COVID-19 has been in the school or at a school event. The CDC has a Close Contact Decision Tree to help determine if someone is considered to have been in close contact with a person infected with COVID-19.

Sauteed Leeks and Apples

Sautéed leeks and apples are a deliciously unique combination. Vinegar and honey are the perfect complements for a tangy and sweet side dish. Try using different varieties of apples to change the flavor.
