Conn. police investigating deadly crash involving RI teen

TRUMBULL, Conn. (WPRI) — An 18-year-old man from Cumberland died Friday night after a two-vehicle crash in Trumbull, Connecticut, according to state police.
Around 11:00 p.m., investigators say a BMW X1 SUV with Vermont license plates and was driving south on Rt. 25 when a BMW X5 SUV, with Rhode Island plates, approached the X1 from the rear.
The driver of the X5 lost control of the vehicle after sideswiping the X1’s rear passenger side.
The X5 rolled over and hit several trees. A back-seat passenger, identified as 18-year-old Timothy Campbell, from Cumberland, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A total of four other people from both vehicles were transported to area hospitals to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The road was shut down for several hours during the investigation before officials re-opened it around 6:30 a.m.
