PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Cranston man was arrested Sunday night after a crash and accused of driving under the influence with a child in the car.
Rhode Island State Police said troopers arrested Alan S. Chhim, 22, around 9:19 p.m. after a crash on Route 95 in Pawtucket.
Chhim was charged with driving to endanger resulting in physical injury, reckless driving, and first-offense DUI, including a charge for having a child under 13 in the car. Additionally, police said he faces two counts each of carrying a pistol without a license and carrying a weapon while intoxicated.
Chhim was processed and held overnight at Lincoln Woods Barracks, pending his arraignment.
“Every child deserves a designated driver,” Jennifer O’Neil, MADD R.I. Victim Advocate, told 12 News in a comment on the incident.
