7-year-old shot on Florence St dies; suspects face murder charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The 7-year-old girl who was critically wounded in a Providence shooting on Florence Street last Thursday has died.
According to a city spokesperson, the child succumbed to her injuries on Monday at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
The suspects arrested in connection with the shooting, Ahmari Cabrera, 19, and Shaheem Nathaniel, 26, are now facing murder charges. They will also be charged with numerous gun violations.
Cabrera and Nathaniel are being held to appear in 6th District Court. The spokesperson noted that the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be brought against the suspects.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim involved in this tragic incident, resulting in the death of an innocent child,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
