Finlays unveiled their new global research and development center and manufacturing plant at Quonset Business Park recently. A global leader in the development and distribution of tea and coffee extracts, Finlays’ new facility includes 28,800 sq. feet of space.
“The new Finlays facility is another example of Rhode Island’s continued economic momentum. Quonset continues to be a leading force in Rhode Island’s job creation and economic development,” stated Gov. Gina Raimondo.
The new facility will allow Finlays to expand their production capacity to better meet the increasing global demand for tea and coffee products. This latest addition to the Park will also position Quonset to promote economic growth for the state.

The construction of the new Flex Industrial Campus at Quonset Business Park is nearing completion. The steel framing was finished this past winter. Each of the buildings in this space range from 25,000 to 50,000 s/f. They contain office spaces, restroom facilities, and high bay space for manufacturing, assembly, or warehouse use.
Quonset is looking forward to welcoming new tenants to the space, the only one of its kind in the state.
“I’m thrilled with the development progress of the brand new Flex Industrial Campus,” said Quonset’s Steven J. King. “We can’t wait to offer space to even more businesses that want to make their home at Quonset and create new jobs here in Rhode Island.”
U.S. Sen. Jack Reed visited the J. Goodison shipyard at Quonset Business Park recently to celebrate their latest acheivements.
As pictured above (left-to-right), MARAD Admiral Mark H. Buzby, Sen. Jack Reed, Jack Goodison, Marcia Blount of Blount Boats, and Steven J. King of Quonset toured the shipyard on March 9. They viewed the shipyard’s marine travel lift and new wastewater treatment system.
J. Goodison Co. received $635,453 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Division (MARAD) though the Small Shipyard Grant Program in 2017. With this grant, J. Goodison was able to implement the new wastewater system for their shipyard at Quonset, making it more efficient and environmentally-friendly.
Applications are currently being accepted for the Wavemaker Fellowship. Individuals must be college graduates with student loan debt working full time in a STEM or design position at a Rhode Island Company. Those accepted to the program can receive student loan debt relief up to $6,000 a year.
