On July 29, 2024, the Newport County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Woobens Derogene with one count of possession of more than a kilogram of methamphetamine, one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, one count of carrying a pistol without a license, one count of possession of a firearm while possessing a controlled substance with intent to deliver, one count of possession of a large capacity feeding device, and one count of conspiring to violate the Rhode Island Uniformed Controlled Substances Act.

The alleged acts occurred in the City of Newport on January 10, 2024. The Newport Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant is currently being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions and is scheduled to be arraigned on July 30, 2024, in Newport County Superior Court.

Philip Gerard (age 23)
