(WJAR) — The Warwick Police Department said a man has died and a woman was injured after a crash Sunday night.
Police said they responded to 709 Quaker Lane at around 9:39 p.m. for a report of an accident involving a pedestrian.
Officials said they found two victims at the scene.
According to police, a 26-year-old woman had been traveling south on Quaker Lane when she struck a 44-year-old man in the right southbound lane.
The woman had gotten out of her vehicle to check on the pedestrian when a dark colored SUV struck the woman and ran over the man, officials said.
The SUV, described to be a Jeep Grand Cherokee by a witness, continued down south on Quaker Lane without stopping.
Warwick police said the man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman sustained serious bodily injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.
